Using Member Connect Mobile like a Phone App

If you find that you need additional functionality for your members & prospects on their mobile devices, our Member Connect Mobile experience might be a good addition to or alternative to using the downloadable Member App.

Unlike the downloadable app, your Member Connect Mobile site is reached through the browser on your phone which people are prompted to save to their homescreen for quick access. Both the downloadable Member App and Member Connect Mobile require an active internet connection to work.

One of the main differences between the Member App and Member Connect Mobile is that the Member App requires the person to already have a password in order to access any of its functionality. This means it cannot be used by the general public or prospects, or anyone else that hasn't already been issued a password by your business. Members using the Member Connect Mobile site will be prompted to re-enter their password each time they access it, however, all mobile browsers offer to save & autofill passwords as a convenience to the user which can eliminate manual re-entry of credentials if they so choose.

Here are a few examples of typical business situations where Member Connect Mobile may provide a better experience than the Member App:

  • You need people to reserve & pay for drop-in classes
  • You need prospects to sign up for their first membership (Intro specials, etc)
  • You need prospects to be able to sign up for a free class
  • You have a children's program and need parents to be able to login with a single password to manage their family's billing, reservations/attendance history, and profiles
  • You need members & prospects to book their own appointments
  • You need people to view & register for upcoming events
  • You need people to check in for class on their own device (mark themselves as attended)

 

OPTIMIZING MEMBER CONNECT MOBILE APPEARANCE

Navigate to Setup>Member Connect>Appearance, then scroll to the Images & Logos section on that page.

You will want to upload a small banner image and an icon of your logo.

The banner will appear at the top of the screen when someone accesses your Member Connect Mobile page through their phone's browser, reinforcing your brand.

When they save your site to their device's homescreen, the custom icon you uploaded will be added to their homescreen and they will just have to tap your logo to launch your Member Connect Mobile Site.

Here is an example of how Member Connect Mobile looks in a browser with a logo image in place and how the icon appears after it's been saved to the homescreen of the device.

UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD MESSAGE TO SHOWCASE MEMBER CONNECT MOBILE

Go to Setup>Member Connect>Appearance and copy the link to your Member Connect Mobile site that appears at the very top of that page under Website Behavior>Location.

Here is a stock message you can customize. Copy & paste it into a text editor, Word doc, or Google Doc to make your edits.

Replace the text 'INSERT YOUR LINK HERE' with your Member Connect Mobile link. Update anything else written in ALL CAPS to reflect your own business info as well.

After you finish customizing your message, copy & paste it to Setup>Member Connect>Member Privileges>Automatic Access>Edit Welcome Message
